Here is a thought project. When it comes to being a businessman or an entrepreneur, who do you want to imitate from the Bible? I imagine many people would pick Solomon. Understandably so. He was massively successful that people traveled far and wide to come see his kingdom.
Maybe some would pick Paul. Hard to argue there. He set the world on fire for Christ.
As I think about it, I want to be like Abraham. Abraham was considerably successful in life. He was a powerhouse. He is granted presence before Pharoah and kings. He has his own army. His flock becomes too large and has to split off from Lot. If Forbes has a list back then, he would have been on it.
Despite all of this, what do we think of when we think of Abraham? We think of him being the father of the covenant. We think of him being an example of faith when it comes to Isaac. We think of him persevering for decades before God’s promises come to fruition. Basically we think of him in terms of spiritual things.
This is what I want to be. I want to be a successful businessman. I want to be successful in worldly things, but I want to be known for spiritual things. Earthly is good but heavenly is better.
May God grant me the grace to be like Abraham. #belikeabraham#business#christian#entrepreneur#hustlehard#genesis15#covenantofgrace#fatherabraham#baytown#houston#church#success#hustlehard#goodluckkeepingup#godgrantmegrace#fatherofnations
The whole picture... is something we never see. I met a sweet lady early this morning and she opened her heart to me. She told me about her two marriages and how they ended, her child, her three grandchildren and the tragic loss of her only child. Tears streamed and my heart was humbled as I saw life from a different perspective... from her perspective. The truth is we all go through things, in life; whether physically, mentally or emotionally. In these times it's easy to become so focused on our own whirlwind that we forget others have it just as hard, and even sometimes heartbreakingly worse. In this moment I realized that she needed my strength. I couldn't change the circumstances, but I could listen. I could offer heartfelt words and a hug. Mostly, I could give her my time. A moment of time not worrying about my problems but caring for hers. In this moment I was reminded of how beautiful it is when we walk through life together. How empowering it is when someone seems down and we reach our hand out to lift them up. Day 11 on the countdown to thirty and I'm reminded to look around and understand that we aren't alone in the chaos of life, and sometimes helping others through the storms of life gets us through too... xo
